Roll & Barrel
Turn-based fantasy tactics in your browser. Lead a party of four heroes — a Fighter, a Cleric, a Wizard and a Rogue — through short arena fights against bandits. Every attack is a dice roll; where you stand decides how good your chances are.
What you do
- Place your party before the fight, then take turns: move, attack, cast a spell, drink a potion.
- Use the arena: hide behind walls for cover, take the high ground, set oil on fire, shoot an oil barrel next to your enemies — or dip your arrows in a fire source first.
- Keep everyone alive: a hero who drops rolls death saves; the Cleric can bring them back.
- The enemies play by the same rules.
Questions
- Is it free?
- Yes — free to play in your browser, with no account and no ads.
- Do I need to download anything?
- No. It runs in a desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). A mouse and keyboard work best; phones and tablets aren't supported well yet.
- Which rules does it use?
- The open fifth edition System Reference Document (SRD 5.2.1), with a few documented house rules such as oil barrels and dipping weapons in fire. Every die roll follows those rules.
- How long does it take?
- The guided tutorial takes about 5 minutes; the Farmstead arena about 10 to 15.
- Is it finished?
- No — it's an early test version with one arena after the tutorial. The game's Feedback button shapes what comes next. It's also on itch.io.
